Don't change your style juss b.c your friends say to .. what do they kno anyway ? But if you want to dress preppier, anyone could pull it off. The key is to not change everything suddenly & all at once.
You could make over your wardrobe over the summer next year, or if you want to try now, over Christmas break! I'm sure you'll get lots of new clothes -- if its not too late ask for some Hollister, Aero, Pacsun, ect. ones. Then juss start gradually mixing in pieces of the new clothes with your regular stuff. Ex. - your regular jeans w. a cute pink polo & flip-flops. If alot of new clothes aren't an option all the time, make what you have cuter some days! A baggy t-shirt could look way better if you tie the end in a knot, then wear your hair wavy pulled in a high pony tail w. a few wispy pieces down in the front. After a while [2 weeks-month], start wearing complete outfits from preppy stores, and since you'd been dressing semi-preppy for a while, people won't wonder whats up with your sudden change & think "Oh thats just that girl with the really cute clothes! She always dresses like that..!"
Also, don't forget make-up! Eyeliner, mascara, & lip gloss can make you look sooo much better & more girly. Don't apply alot tho, esp. at first. You want to just slowly mold into your new look.
You could also get highlights or something to freshen up your style even more!
Good Luck! & remember.. you don't have to dress like a model every day. With cute make-up & hair even a football jersey can be a fashion statement. Being a sporty prep makes you unique.

My girlfriend is really good at sports and she plays videogames and whatnot, but she also wears abercrombie and other brands like that and is able to look hot without looking too girlie. so yea, im sure you could pull it off.

I have seen preppy tomboys before. They are really into sweater vests and Khaki's.
Do what you want to! True friends won't judge whether you pull something off.

This may be true. But why are you trying to be something you're not anyway? Are you playing a "character" or living your life as yourself?

so what? theres a lot of preps in this world - we need you! be yourself and youll be more appreciated then the 'OMG i like totally like cant believe i broke a nail!! i hate my life!!' type girl. do you think thats gonna help the world out someday?
