Well there was that movie Supersize me and it showed that McDonalds can be very detrimental to your health, the portions are way to large, there are things put in the food to make it addictive etc. After that film was released mcdonalds made a change to its menu, I think they reduced portion sizes and salt content. There are salads, healthy choices and things on the packaging telling you how to have an active lifestyle. I think the media has influenced mcdonalds alot. I found a link that lets you ask mcdonalds a question if you want to go on there. The second link is about supersize me.

Subsequent to the showing of the film at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival, McDonald's phased out its Supersize meal option, and began offering healthier menu items in addition to its customary fare, though McDonald's denied that this was in reaction to the movie. The corporation did, however, issue a press release on their website, denouncing Spurlock's film and blaming the filmmaker for being a part of the problem, and not the solution.[citation needed]

A sentence from that article.
