I hope someone will show me how to handle my current situation at work. I have recently made a stupid mistake by coming out to 2 of my female co-workers. One of them has a gay brother. I told them to treat me like any other workers, and absolutely no sexual innuendoes, gay gestures or anything as such. I also told them I will not be out at work because I don't know how people will behave/react, and I better not jump into the pool without testing the water. And I intent to test the water very slowly. However, I am comfortable being myself, and sexual orientation is irrelevant at work, so I don't want to make it a big concern that might effect my work performance.
Yet, I am still feeling unsettled and insecure due to unable to control the situation. I can make things very clear with the supervisor and asks her to stop any unbecoming behavior from the bud, but I don't want to make a big fuss. Please give me some advices as to how should I handle my current situation? Thanks

you came out already to two co-workers, so you can't change that. Go about your job as you usually do to prove to yourself and the rest that you are the same person that does the same job. You are feeling uneasy about what the two think about you or how they may treat you which will slowly o away after some time.

I was asked to come work in a hardware store:one of those where you would buy stuff to build a house and all there is in it:From day one i outed myself:the bosses already knew.Well some co-workers ignored me for a while, maybe talked about me behind my back.
Now its all changed.
Customers rather be helped by me.I see things more clearly and more practical as i do run my own household. In fact:after a slow start they just treat me like anyone else:great.
But I wouldn't do it,see I live in Holland, where most people are very tolerant .You however live in bigot ville.where I am there is no discrimination of any kind at all:it is against the law.Be wiser who you vote for next time. And tell the two girls to shut p about it.
And why is it so important to come out at you job anyway??
greetings:Rob.xxx

I ask the same question in this forum, I want to earn money and be comfortable working there. Im a overnight stocker in a retail store, so the guys are soo butch, talk about girls and sex. When they are at it, I quietly work esle where. But sometimes I want to straight out tell any a**hole "Im gay!, now what..." Im not ashamed of who I am, Im very liberal in my thoughts and speak freely, and thats what Im trying to avoid to brawl against these people, and of course keep my job. Since you spill the beans, just go about yrself, if you feel some injustice against you, theres HR to deal with that. Like the phrase from White Chicks movie, "IM gonna Write a Letter..."

#1) Why did u tell them?
-if you didn't want it to affect anything or anyone to treat you differently why did you say anything???
#2) I think you need to go back and stress the importance of them not telling anyone about it.
just say:
"Hey,Sally and Susan...you know i told you about my being gay because i really do trust you guys and i felt like you guys would not judge me and i really want to make sure that you are comfortable and cool with just keeping it between us...i'm not ready to have everyone know about it and i would really appreciate if we could just keep it between us..."
If they are good friends/co-worker they will respect that and never speak of it again...if not then be prepared to have people asking you weird questions and beating around the bush to try to "figure you out"
Good Luck

A lot of people are attracted to their co workers at work. Get one of your gay friends to work where you work so you won't feel like the only one...and you can flirt with eachother. There is nothing wrong with being gay...I think it is hot.

Is making a big fuss in your job description?
I know you say you don't want to make one...but if you are told to make a fuss I'd advise you say "Yes sir, how large would you like it, sir?" and get to fuss-making ASAP!
Being the best derned fuss maker you can be is the key to success and happiness.

Sadly, in 36 states, it is still legal to fire someone based on their sexual orientation, I hope that you are in a more civilized state. Being gay does not define who you are, but your life does.

I'm afraid that once you told someone, and you've told two people, the truth is bound to be retold. Especially at work, people gossip. Expect everyone to know your secret very soon.
