I'd ask around to see what your friends are wearing, it really just varies on the schools...some dont dress up much for the formals, and some you cant tell the difference between a formal and semi formal...but a little black dress with a little style is always safe...and you can definitely dress it up as much as you want with accessories and hair!

Winter Formal is similar to homecoming but a little dressier and should not be like prom. You don't want to be over dressed or underdressed basically so if you have just a basic black dress you can gussy it with accessories, hair, makeup and shoes. I don't have any pictures myself but I did a google search for site with pics that are good examples.

This site is really expensive but it should give you some good ideas for putting your outfit together or help you decide if you need to look for something new.

In my daugters High school Winter Formals are pretty formal. Girls had to wear nice dresses, Hose and Dress shoes Guys had to rent a Tux. I think as long as the dress is pretty formal and not denim or causual, not a skirt and blouse, it should be o.k. remember if going with someone they will probably buy you a corsage and you should buy them a butineer (however it's spelled.) so think of that when getting a dress what would be easy to match a corsage to good luck and have fun

a little black dress is ok to wear. prom is a dress you'd want to be really really classy!! where with a formal dress something not so dressy but dressy! something more like a little black dress would be for a formal than a prom!

we had a "winter formal" at my high school and it was just a dance for the girls to dress like s*uts. They wore what you would wear out clubbing and what not. I heard the first year some showed up in dresses(like a homecoming style) and others wore the clubbing clothes. if you're not sure....ask others at your school.

In my daugters intense college iciness Formals are distinctly formal. females had to placed on great clothing, Hose and gown shoes adult adult males had to hire a Tux. i think of as long because of the fact the gown is distinctly formal and not denim or causual, no longer a skirt and shirt, it is going to be o.ok. bear in suggestions if going with somebody they'll in all probability purchase you a corsage and you may desire to purchase them a butineer (even with the undeniable fact that that's spelled.) so think of of that as quickly as getting a gown what could be ordinary to tournament a corsage to reliable success and have exciting
