We can never know as long as all the CCTV footage isn't released.
Terrence Yeakey had a good idea, since he was there, but his was a brutal ending.

With the destruciton of the Murrah Federal Building in OKC ("MFB"), a new era in US despotism was launched.
If the case against McVey is true, a patriot did something unfortunate, for all the right reasons.
It is widely claimed that Nichols worked with McVey.
The "forensic evidence" against McVey seemed to me to have been fabricated: I've worked with explosives before, and I just don't see how some of the truck pieces would have survived in the condition anywhere close to how they were presented or allegedly found.
In the end, McVey was probably a patsy. He might have driven the Ryder and parked it, and the Ryder might have been used to transport the bomb -- or all of that could have been done to cover up what really happened and protect the identities of the real culprits.
Everything I've seen regarding the "involvement" of Nichols leads me to the conclusion he wasn't in any meaningful way involved in the plot against the MFB -- and IF he had any association with McVey, it was only for McVey's charity.
Nichols reminds me of the little chihuahua (?) that fawns all over the bulldog (i think he's called "Spike") in the cartoons: the little dog isn't really a threat to anyone or anything, but Spike tolerates him, and he doesn't get picked-on as badly because he hangs around Spike.
In this case, it doesn't matter whether Spike is a genuine badass or if he's simply "cool" (socially acceptable) or whatever other quality or qualities the chihuahua thinks Spike has. All that matters is (a) that the little dog THINKS that Spike has some admirable quality, and (b) that Spike tolerates the presence of the little dog.
IOW, if Nichols was ever associated socially with McVey, it was only because McVey generously allowed Nichols to bask in (McVey's) social glory. Nichols always came across as a pretender -- a guy that could recognize the important points in a conversation and parrot or praise them, but that could never be expected to have come up with anything on his own: Nichols could never have added any meaningful contribution to anything.
Unfortunately for us all, the political ambitions attributed to McVey never gained popular support; the organs of government consolidated power and used the destruction of the MFB as a "justification" for further erosion of civil rights and liberties.
OKC ultimately proved that "We, the People" are doomed.

What really happened in a hospital in a Serbian held part of Sarajevo in the beginning of September 1995? What really happened in hospitals, clinics Churches, the Chinese Embassy, and to refugee columns throughout Yugoslavia in March-June 1999? The Clintons and Albrights murdered many more people then any former American soldier who got fed up with the government of his country.

Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols...... thats what happened. White extremism....... thats what happened........ initially blaming Osama and Saddam and Muslim/Islamic extremists.......... thats what happened. Finding out that it was in fact Americans terrorizing Americans........ thats what happened. McVeigh getting put to death a few years later...... thats what happened. Blaming the bombers and not the year after year after year of governmental plundering and excess that would eventually lead to the bombing...... thats what happened.

I believe that Timothy and Nickles were in on it, but we may never know who else. I knew many in that bombing and would like to just forget it.
