How to change the power supply in my computer??

It's fairly simple........

1) Using a NON-MAGNETIC screwdriver, undo the screws securing the casing on both sides.

2) Undo the screws at the back of the casing which hold the power supply unit in place

3) Carefully slide the unit out, and balance it on the work surface.

4) Slide the new Power Supply in place, and swap the wires attached to the components over from the old unit to the new unit (matching them like-for-like). Make sure they don't obstruct the CPU fan, as I'm sure that's what may have caused a blade to snap off on the one on my old computer (which i replaced the Power Supply on 3-yrs ago after it blew).

5) Put the screws back in place which hold the Power Supply Unit....... I usually find it can be quite tricky to get the screwholes in the back of the casing to line up properly with the ones in the Power Supply.

6) Slide the sides of the casing back in place (might be a little awkward), put the screws back in, then hook up the wires at the back again........ but only the basic ones first in case you have to open the thing up again - power cable, monitor cable, keyboard & mouse.
IF the computer starts perfectly, and there's no smoke coming out the back of it, then you're ok to put all the other wires back in.

Get an identical power supply. Notice where the plugs go. Unplug them, remove the power supply and reverse the steps with the new power supply.

First unplug all the connectors to the mobo, Hard drive, CD and floppy. Then remove the four screws of the PSU in the back of the case. Take the old PSU out put the new one in and reconnect everything.

Take off the side, remove all the plugs, unscrew it, pull it out, screw in a new one, replace all the plugs, put the side back on.
