The last two people are right. The Monte Carlo and Impala (same car, different body) are known for having cheap, thin brake rotors. The Monte especially has problems with this due to its weight. You're going to need to get them replaced and not just turned. With new pads and rotors on just the front (they will recommend doing the rear, too), you're looking at a little over $200.

Camaro all the way. The "SS" on the Monte Carlo stands for "sleepy senior"! Just because you stick SS on the side of a car, does not make it "Super" or Sporty"! Front engine, rear drive is the way to go for a really fun car. Want boring, get the Monte Carlo! The last "good" Montes' were the 87 "G" body Front engine/rear drive cars! Do not get me wrong, the 2002 Monte Carlo is a good enough car, it is just NEVER going to be a great performance car, the front engine /front drive kills it! Your Camaro, at least has potential!

It could be ..... for your own safety take it to a good mechanic and use your charge card to pay for it if you have to.... a front end rattle and shake is nothing you want to just put up with

Possibly could be warped brake rotors. But, you should definitely take it to a good reputable repair shop to be looked at.

If the car shakes from side to side, you probably have bent brake rotors.

I had this problem with a Crown Victoria and it was that my boots were busted. I doubt that at your car's age it is a problem with the suspension.
