1. NEVER show any interest in what you want.
2. Laugh at the first quoted price and walk away.
3. Point out several things you don't like about it but express growing interest the more they explain it.
4. Talk of others who purchased the item for much less and different locations and talk of going there.
5. Stree that you are in NO HURRY at all to buy. You don't intend to buy until the following month unless something amazing offer was made for you.
6. Give a ridiculously low price that you are willing to pay and don't budge very much on that amount.
7. Act like a jerk right from the start.

it normally depends on where you're buying. if it's a small stall or it's in the market, cut the price to half right away. for the example the product costs $50.say i'll have that for $25. which of course the salesperson wouldn't like.but that is where you would start to haggle.the $25 would go up to $30,$40 or even up to $45 but that doesn't really matter. what's important here is you've been given a discount which is already big right?

Haggling is becoming a lost art. For starters, control your face as best as you can, haggling is all about bluffing, both you and the person trying to sell to you. Don't be afraid to turn up your nose and get sarcastic with them at their first offer...Make it clear that you thing they're trying to swindle you (Even if they aren't!) blind! Don't be afraid to give them a fake "WTF are you smoking that you think I'd fall for that?" look, and walk away for a while. If they change it, or try to stop you walking away, then you know they are really willing to bargain with you, and it's time to get down to business. The method that a seller usually uses is to ask for double or triple what they want, and let you talk them down to that...Start at about 10 to 25% of what he's asking, and work your way up to around 50%. A good haggler will insult you, calling you stingy, gripe, complain, and generally make a scene, saying things like "I can't sell to you at that price! It's taking food out of my children's mouths to sell to you at ___ price!" Don't let them fool you, stick to your guns! The absolute worst that could happen is that you end up not getting the item...but at least you won't be out too much money!

Always know that you can find a better deal somewhere else. Also know its ok to walk away.

Once you get that figured out, you can make offers and negotiate or compromise anything you want!

Keep it simple, if its more than you want to spend let them know but dont burn any bridges because you may be able to use them as a resource later.

It only works if you don't back down. You need to have a price n mind and want to go no farther. DOn't start at the price you would pay be much lower so you can work to the price. Walk away if you are getting nowhere and maybe they will call you back to renegotiate.

I find that instead of barganing with seller, it is better to say him that you are investigating for the cheapest price for the material, and you are interested in his offer. Take down a piece of paper and while writing it down ask him if it is his final offer. This works like magic, because then they understood that you mean business.
