Ones learning method depends on the individual. There are simple learning inventories that you can find on line, which will help you figure out what type of learner you are dealing with. Each individual learns differently. There are tactile learners, auditory learners, visual learners, kenistetic learners, and many others. Check out Gardner's learning styles.
You are asking a great question because the sooner you figure out what type of learner your students is, the faster you will be able to present the material in an appropriate way.
Unfortunately, if you are a classroom teacher, you will have to plan lessons which tap into a variety of teaching styles so that you reach a broad spectrum of students.

The best method of learning is the one in which you learn. However the best TEACHING method is one that meets all the needs of students or indviduals, typically hitting all the senses. Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic and Tactile. This is called using a "multisensory approach". Visual, meaning sight, remembering and learning what you see, Auditory means what you hear. Kinesthetic, typically means large muscle involvement in the learning.. (typcially crossing the midline, as you then use both sides of the brain) and tactile means using the sense of touch to learn. I think when all of those are utelized, you maximize the learning
