Ok he was the one who "could trip the light to fantastic" much to the amazement of one reporter, despite his ample size, and never wanted the nomination for President, he always wanted to be Chief Justice.

I don't know, but he must have had some good ideas about the place of politics. I'll take a shot at it and say Calvin Coolidge. He's obscure enough.
