Generally speaking, sitting is always better than standing. The standing room is in the very back, and all arenas do not have it. That said, many arenas are designed so that you can see pretty well no matter where you are at. I have never been in standing room, but I have sat in the very last row in a couple of different places, including the St. Pete Times Forum, and the view was terrific. It's not as good as being up close, but you can see everything fine. It is not like being in the back of a football or baseball stadium, that is for sure. That said, I'd have to say that standing room to your favorite team is better than nothing if you have no other option, but if you're just trying to save a buck or two it isn't going to be worth it.

I have heard from several friends that the standing room area at the Joe Louis Arena is not half bad. You'll have to check with your local arena to find out what is available.

NO! Itès way in the nose bleeds. Itès actually worse than the nosebleeds cause you have to stand instead of sit. It would better just to sit at home in the comfort of your living room watching the game on TV then standing the whole two/two and a half hours watching it from afar.

I think it may vary from arena to arena, but most have the standing between the upper and lower bowls. So essentially you have a better view than the fans in the upper bowl. They are generally cheaper because you have to stand, and they get to sit.
