I just bought a blackberry on ebay and it says it is unlocked to cingular?

it even said it was compatable in my area, but when I put my SIM card in it, it has no signal and says searching for signal. Can this be fixed? What do I do?

you have to go to a cell phone booth to look over there if they can unblock it.
