Basically, you can sell the guy in the curiosity shop anything that you can keep in a bottle. He will offer you a range of prices for what you offer him, but that man has other things that he can do.
Firstly, if you save the lady from the thief at midnight on the first day, he will have the all-night mask availible for 500 rupees on the final day.
Also, if at any point, you lose your sword or a bottle, go and see him and he should be selling it back to you.
He's also a compoment in the Kafei sidequest. If you don't protect the lady and continue the Kafei sidequest, he will be in Kafei's small room at 4:00 on the third day. Talk to him then and he will give you a letter and the Keaton's mask. You can either give the letter direct to Kafei's mother for a bottle of chateau Romani or give it to the postman and have him deliver it. He will then be allowwed to flee and will give you the postman's hat
