We come to answers to play, or ask questions on our lives. The most pressing issue before me is my missouri driving privledges. I get lots of hate over this question, so I'd like to know how all you perfect people do it.
I was born in illinios, but have been a missouri resident for more than 10 years. During my divorce I briefly moved back to il. I switched my DL back to il while I was there. Within 4 months of moving back to mo I got a dui in mo before I changed my il licence back to mo. Both states of course, suspended my driving privledges. After 2500$ in fines and fees to missouri and two years in the process, jumping through one hoop after another, I was reinstated in mo on oct 30, only to find illinios now had a hold on my DL. Illinios demands a 500$ reinstatement fee, 3times the amount I paid in mo, and they want me to submit papers, and counseling reviews that took me two years in mo to complete. I already sent il all the paperwork, reviews, statements, decarations,

that I submitted to mo to be reinstated. It all fell on deaf ears. IL sent me a thick yellow packet requiring all the thing I already did for mo. My main charge is that, even though i was holding an illinios licence, I committed no crime in il, without due process, or an attourney they are imposing the same sanctions mo did. The reinstatement fee is 500$, which to me is extortion. I live in the woods outside a small twon in mo, I have no rich relatives, or friends who will carry me to work or the store. I cannot extract a living on my bicycle. I blew .095 on this first offense, none before or since. I am increasingly getting upset and am ready to go postal because plainly, this is all a load of crap.
Either state has offered no other transportation options, and this nation as a whole has created an atmosphere where we are depenant on motorvehicles. Why are these people being so obtuse?

Just do what they want. Getting a DUI puts you at the mercy of the courts. Some of the stuff they make you go through hardly seems fair, BUT...Nobody wants drunks out there driving around. Drunk Drivers kill people. You are learning a lesson here....Call a cab next time. Meanwhile, you have little choice but to comply with the laws in any state where you wish to keep a license.

States reciprocate information regarding everyone's license now a days..it has a lot to do with the child support systems and locating dead beat parents. Your situation may take patience, but hang in there. IL is a difficult state to deal with regarding all issues. You may need to spend a day calling to speak to a person in the legal division of the Motor Vehicles/Licensing section. Explain your situation - that you cleared it up in MO and you may even have to resend or fax all of the info again...but it is best to get an exact name of a person and deal directly with that one all the time. I work for a trans. co. and one of my drivers had the same issue between WI and TX - the laws are very different between offenses etc in each state and his speeding tickets. It took 4 months to clear that up but I worked with a wonderful man in the legal at the WI DMV. Keep your cool, go into it solution/resolution based and be positive and you will get it cleared up. Good luck...and stop drinking while driving...we want you to stick around and not hurt others.

Here’s my suggestion on what to do… Do what you have to do to gain your license back, pay your fines, no matter how much they are, the fines are WELL deserved for your careless behavior.

And here’s my advice for the future… DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE MORON !!!” If you hadn’t, you wouldn’t be in this mess, stop whining… you created the problem and now you’re bitching about the consequences. Your risky behavior places me and my family at risk. If I KNEW for a FACT you’d be the only idiot harmed or killed for your poor judgment, I wouldn’t give a damm, but you fools (and not only the question asker) who drink and drive place others at risk, and when there’s an accident, they usually kill or harm an innocent person.

Therefore, any person who is caught drinking and driving should at the very least loose their ability to drive for a VERY LONG time, fined big time AND jailed for at least a year. A car or truck is a 1 and a half ton (at least) rolling weapon. What’s the difference if someone kills another person, while drunk, using a firearm or motor vehicle… I don’t get it… one is punished, usually severely; the other, usually, gets break after break.

Tax the poor !!!

Take your issues to the court, not the state's DMV. The agency DMV will never let you off the hook, but in your legal court case, file a motion to ask for acceptance of all the classes taken in one state to satisfy the same requirements of other state. File in court - don't ask the agency! File the motion your self if you don't have or can't afford an attorney. Go to the self help sites listed below and learn how to file a motion. Stick with it, fight for your rights! Good luck!

I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying that you now have no drivers licence in either state because IL put a "hold" on your IL licence? Why do you need a licence in both states?
