I'd peg it down to myth.
No matter what you are always going to have to restrain yourself to a degree in a relationship, there will always be problems, and there is always the chance of it ending. Based on my observations of others, many who claimed to be perfect.
My experience, after a string of relationships lasting no more than 7 hours, and my latest spanning out to weeks, go with someone who just ends up at your side. Sure, it can take a long time, but it works a lot better. Took me about 3 years.
Won't be perfect, but it sure beats dodging jumper cables because you didn't pay quite enough attention.

The answer is, you don't! As someone who has been married twice - on both occasions I entered into the relationship thinking they were 'the one'.
The truth is, time changes you and your partner, and you can drift apart. Fortunately, it looks like I got lucky second time around.
All you can do is be honest and take the leap for the right reasons. If your partner has done the same, then you may have a chance - but EVERY relationship has to be worked at.

You just feel it if they are the one. There is no perfect relationship, so if you are searching for that then you will be searching the rest of your life. Don't let a good thing pass you by just b/c of a few hangups along the way. Everybody has issues.

I don't believe that there is just one person that is right for you. I think there are many people that it can work out with but it is all a matter of it being the right time. Once you find someone that you love that loves you and you are committed to I think the trick is making that realtionship work no matter what.

When you look around you'll see everyone is different that guy over there may be the 3....the blond surfer dude is the 4.7....if a guy is the 1 he'll be clearly labeled as such.

I like to think it will happen for me one day, but who knows? I may wind up being too particular. I do think a pulse is essential, however.
