Hello, dex - all of the posters above are incorrect although the lady above me mentions that cells use fuel (which is correct but incomplete).

Cells are like cars:

1) Vacuoles, vesicles, and fat are similar to the car's gastank - they all can hold fuel
2) The frame of the car is analogous to the cell wall - both are used for protection
3) The car sputters out smog as waste while the cell sputters out carbon dioxide as waste.
4) The car moves on its wheels, the cell can move using its microtubules and cell walls (creeps along amost like a snail).
5) The car uses gasoline as its main fuel while the cell uses ATP
6) The car can take in fresh air through its intake while the cell can take in oxygen through its cell membrane.
7) The car has bumper lights around it so other drivers can see the car, the cell has lots of sugars and proteins sticking out of its cell wall to let other cells know what it is.
8) The car has a lot of safety features such as airbags - the cell has lots of safety features too on the level of the organism - if the cell ever suffers from a lot of DNA damage, it can refuse to replicate for the sake of the organism so as to not become cancerous.

Hope this helps.

-Kevin

ATP sythase is the enzyme that phosphorylates ADP into ATP in the mitochondial matrix. A proton gradient is established between the outer part of the mitochondria and the matrix. ATP synthase is shaped like a wheel that turns when the protons flow back due to this gradient. The cell converts chemical energy to that mechanical energy of ATP synthase turning like a wheel. A car converts chemical energy into mechanical energy of the wheels turning.

you're taking the cellular's organelles and attempt to discover some thing it extremely is comparable in function interior the vehicle or human. So the cellular wall (i'm talking plant cellular as you may tell) may be the um exterior of the vehicle (sorry i don't comprehend lots approximately autos) and then the cellular membrane is the internal physique. Mitochondria may be the gas because of the fact it ingredients ability? i might surely google motor vehicle anatomy or some thing such as that so i might comprehend what areas of autos are referred to as. Sorry i could not help extra yet i think of you get the belief now.
