I am from europe and have just returned from a 3 week trip to america, travelling extensivly.
And i was disturbed by the complete lack of culture, the over marketed advertising, the people who were completely unaware of current and world avents.
america is probably the fakest , tackiest place i have ever visited.
it is missing heart , soul and history.
it is truelly a miserable place where nothing matters but money and power.

I wouldn't say America is soulless or lacks culture atall. It depends on where you are, and, of course the people you speak with. You had to have been up north someplace :-) come down South, we're a rather nice, cultured lot.

Then too, compared to Europe, our history is so new. America itself has only officially been in existence since 1776, prior to that, being a colony of England, France, and Spain in different areas. There's a hell of a lot of difference in just over 200 years of history and 2000 + years of history. Plus, most Americans' ancestors came here to escape the history of their home countries in one form or fashion, so, there's that aspect as well.

The overmarketed advertising is damn near everywhere in the world. Myself, I just do my best to tune it out.

Money and power are always going to matter no matter where you go. Not a thing I'm proud of, but, it's there. I do hope you'll not decide to have a bad opinion of America based on a bad experience with a few people.

I think what you say could be true of urban and suburban America.
In rural America where I live, people help each other in times of need, don't lock their doors, and don't dress for fashion.
I've also been to Europe and Asia and find the same urban/rural distinction there too.

But I do think ending all American television would help a lot.

I'm very sorry your experience wasn't to your liking but thats what it has become. Some people aren't comfortable enough unless they buy buy buy or gain more money. Some of us are aware of current and world events depends on who you talk to and where you went. There is history but where you went mattered.

I agree whole heartedly that the USA is devoid of heart and lacks proper observance of its Ancient History. To correct one of the post to this question, this land (and its Native Peoples) has been in existence well before 1776. However the genocide upon Native American people, and their rich cultural traditions, by the US gov't have contributed to the current sate of Soulessness. All of the Americas (North, Central and South) were originally inhabited with Native People/Culture well before the Spanish conquerors.

Here is the link to a journal that helps to preserve the archeological finds of Ancient American Culture and the peoples that were displaced/killed off behind the Spanish, French, Engish, Dutch, etc:

The journal is called, "Ancient American: Archeology of the Americas Before Columbus"

http://www.ancientamerican.com/

In addition to the Native American people that are overlooked, there are other ethnic groups that were killed off/enslaved that were Native to the Americas - and their presence here dates back as fas as 1200 b.c. (some artifacts have been dated back to 6000 b.c.). They are known as the OLMEC people, an African people that migrated from Africa, to Asia, and finally to the Americas. There presence pre-dates the Mayan culture; it is common knowledge that Mayan culture learned from the Olmec. Here is a link about their rich history:

Keeping in mind that the Mexican Empire used to govern many current southern states in the USA, e.g. California, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida. Therefore there was a Black African presence in the Southern USA from as far back as 6000 b.c./1200 b.c.

*** Here is the link to an article about Ancient Sanskrit found on caves in Sedona, Arizona:

***Interestingly, there is also a documented Hebrew presence among Native American Peoples. Here is an excerpt of the article, HEBREW CHRISTIANS IN ANCIENT AMERICA:

"There are many Native American Indian customs that confirm the fact of their Hebrew origins. Many of those customs and linguistic evidences were noticed and recorded by the first Europeans who had contact with the various Indian tribes. Sadly, as the result of the cruel dispersion of the Indian people, and the deliberate destruction of their culture, by invading Europeans, most present-day Native Americans are unaware of their Hebrew roots. But, thanks to books written between the 17th and early 19th centuries by Europeans who had first contact with the various Indian tribes, information about many of the old accounts and practices has been preserved. "

Helping to restore and honor the Native People to America will most definitely bring back the Soul, Heart and Rich History/Herstory that is sorely lacking.

Peace

one of the definitions describes culture as...

"The predominating attitudes and behavior that characterize the functioning of a group or organization..."

america has a culture...just because it is nothing like your own does NOT mean it does not exist...

Your entire species is soulless. I'm still wondering why I haven't destroyed your planet yet. I'm not impressed by your European kind either, by how you value personal comfort over the greater good.
