I don't think so. Let me tell you why. I thought the same way, I think most people do. After four years of highschool, you feel like you need a break and you are now 18, you can move out on your own, get a little job somewhere and "learn to live". Unfortunately, what has happened to everyone I know that has done this , is LIFE HITS them and they are not able to go back like they planned. Once you "get out there on your own" rent, insurance, boyfriends/girlfriends, friends and what ever else you surround your life with seems to slowly and undetectably get you stuck. If you have a chance, go now! you have the rest of your life to do what ever it is that you are wanting to do for the next year. Plus once your graduated from college, you'll have the money and maturity to enjoy it !

Taking a year off depends on many circumstances. Your chances of getting admitted to the school of your choice may diminish some, but you may also gain financially and in maturity by waiting. I think you are somewhat ambivalent about college and may not be ready to start right now. If you have no particular goal in mind, you may not be ready for another four or more years of school. One thing to remember is that higher education is a leisure activity, not a job. One does do college "work", but this is not the same as working for a living. If you are just about to finish high school, you have been in school for about 12 years now. Those years were a preparation for adult life, not a prison sentence (though it sometimes can feel like one) or a career. Your decision depends on how you will support yourself and what you want to do with your life. You can go to school at any age, but success in school takes commitment.

Depends on what u want to take a year off to do. travel is always cool, but can be even cooler after college. I took a year off and it felt wasted for me. i wish i had just gotten school over and done with so that i can just live my life. People say that after college thats when the responsibilities start, well, it doesnt have to be immediatly. U can work while ur in school and save for a ticket round the world and have the time of ur life that u can truly enjoy because ull be old enough to enjoy everything. no one can even say anything about being underaged.
if u take that year off u might find urself just lounging on the couch or working ur *** off doing some minimum wage job just so u can buy a car and wind urself up in even more debt and before u kno what hapens, u cant even afford school and u have to take out some type of loan or something
good luck on ur decision tho.

No, there's very little advantage to it. College is really lax so you'll have plenty of time to relax. If you want to travel, you've got all the time off btw semesters/quarters.

The danger of real life sucking you out and making it too hard to get back into the studying mode makes taking a year off not worth it.

With school loans and stuff, you should be ok financially, especially if you work part time during school.

Well first if you want to take the year off after highshool, you have to set aims on what you want to achieve during that year be it a resting period or a adventure around the world. Secondly you have to look at your finances and see if you have enough money for college after you one year sabattical. Its nice to take the year off but dun get yourself in the rut and promise yourself that you will continue into college afte your big adventure even though that may pale from what you will and ouwld be experiencing for that one year.

nope just the Summer

too easy to get lazy and get bad habits

also, while that Math is fresh in there use and at least get a BS while your mind is fresh and young. Its so much easier than trying to do it at 50 when your mind won't retain or learn anything new.

NO! maybe a while if you must, but you will be much much more successful if you return to school as soon as you can. Plus it will be easier and you won't have to work so hard as you would if you wait to go back. You will have more money to goof off if you finish college sooner. Trust me on this. and......have fun!
