I am a Cypriot that lives in the US. Cyprus is a very nice place to live but also has its problems. I moved to the US because I could not find a job in my field (Oil and Gas). But if you have a good job in finance, accounting etc then it's great. Cypriots are friendly but a bit racist with illegals and nationals from poor countries. Many foreigners do not make an effort to learm Greek since they can get by with English. If you make an effort to learn the language people will be much more friendlier. In general is a safe place with good weather fresh food and honest working people. Not too many rich people and not many poor people. Here in the US the difference between the poor and the rich is appaling some times. In Cyprus there is more equality among the people thus less friction.

I am a Cypriot Australian living in Aus
I lived in Cyprus for a total of 6 years
I can only tell u the best things about Cyprus
The people are great, it is an awesome place to live and everyone gets along with everyone. It is honestly paradise

The only negative thing...and the reason we had to return to Aus unfortunately....is that we saw no future. It is very difficult to live there. Wages are pretty low and prices are as expensive as anywhere else in the world. The economy is in great condition but you really get this feeling that everyone owes everything and that in the future things will be a little bleaker.

If you can somehow get a good job or organise something before you go with a decent income then you should find it to be a perfect place

best of luck 2 u

Hello there! I have been living to Cyprus for 2 years and i found it wonderful! To what the lady is saying above i would suggest her to go there by herself and to not rely on what she "hears" as she said because from her answer i trust that she has no idea at all (but absolutely no idea at all!!!!) about Cyprus and its people!!!!
The place is wonderful and the people very lovely, well mannered and very civilised and well educated. The weather will always be very nice over there and if you are a good person you will make friends easily! Cypriots are very friendly with those that are friendly to them! I was living in the capital, Nicosia and i can only say very good things about the place. I wish you the best!

You'll need a lot of patience and a very calm attitude. I know someone that has moved to Cyprus and they are very upset about the way the people treat each other. They cheat their own families and have no respect for human life, especially if the person is a foreigner. There are no small birds out there because they eat them, now there are a lot of flies. The fish are only tiddlers because they don't give them a chance to grow.

Living there is easy but don't expect to work - it's difficult to find work and you will be offered a very low wage. They are also nosey, apparently they will ask you about how much you paid for X or got for X. Learn to tell them it's none of their business or try to evade the question.

I wish you every happiness and hope you find it a beautiful wonderful place to live. I personally; after hearing what I've heard, wouldn't want to live there. Maybe you should if you can, rent a property and bank your money, after a few years if you love it there, then buy your house.

Good luck

Sounds cheap enough to me, hope you make it, have you both got a job? going on holiday and living in the same country is totally different, I hope you've thought that through very carefully, no national health service, and what about the language, I've been going to Greece for 20 years and still haven't manage to get that lingo into my head, anyway I won't put you off, but make sure you make the right decision, I should know, I've been through it when I came to England 35 years ago, it was very hard at first, good luck
