I was a silly girl and got my tongue pierced the other day and yeah even though I'm 19, I haven't told my parents, they'd disown me. Anyway, I think it's infected. Puss is coming out. This is gross but I put a cotton bud into the hole of it and all this puss was then on the cotton. Really disgusting. Can also taste puss. It doesn't hurt at all, and I only got it done last Saturday so a week ago I dont know if this is cause for concern to go to the doctor or itll pass.... any advice??? thanks

You have to ASK if you should go to the doctor? Are you able to think about ANYTHING else even for one minute?! Go to the doc. You're 19...you can incur a bill yourself since you're over 18..this one would be worth it. I've always told people about those nasty tongue piercings. I've seen a nasty tongue or two.... ewww. Go to the clinic, today girl.

It may be infected. It is normal to ooze a little but if it is green or dark yellow, it is a bad sign.You should make an appointment with the Dr.
In the meantime, rinse your mouth with Listerine (plain, no flavored). Use that about every hour. Just a little bit. It doesn't take alot. And make sure you are turning the ring at least twice per day.Also, when you brush your teeth, you brush the top and bottom of the ring as well to remove any plaque build up.
If you get any food stuck around it, rinse with salt water and then listerine.
That should help and possibly even clear it up completely before you are even able to get into the Dr.

They sell mouthwash that has peroxide in it. I can't think of the name of it, but go to the store and look. I think it's called something like Peroxyll or something. Anyway...The mouthwash and peroxide help kill germs and should eventually kill any infection you may have, but see the doctor just in case. If you do not want to buy this, mix it yourself at home. Rinse your mouth with this often.
Did they not tell you this when you had your tongue pierced?? When I got mine done 4 years ago they told me that this would help prevent any infection....try it, but you may still need to go to the doctor. Good luck and I hope this works!

You might want to go to the doc but since it's Sunday you could also try an alcohol-based mouthwash (like original Listeine). Alcohol kills bacteria and anything that's creating pus and such is most likely related to a bacterial infection.
