actually, you should NOT do muscular exercises on a daily basis but instead about every other day. when you exercise your muscles, you "break then down" so to speak and they rebuild, hence the growth. taking a break every other day allows then to grow at a steady pace.

When you exercise, the muscle starts to break down because of the stress put on it. This muscle fiber is then replaced with additional muscle to counter the stress in future. That's why muscles grow - your body adapts to the work it's made to do.
This happens at all ages, but as we grow older, the musculo-skeletal system is less able to deal effectively with shock and stress, so muscle growth is slower, and strength declines. However, repetitive exercises at any age will keep you fitter, and if the muscles are overloaded a little each time, then new muscle tissue will develop. At 46 you still have time to become ripped and get a six pack if you want to put in the work and diet control necessary.

I will gain a tiny amount of muscle each day, but you will not notice it until it grows further. Don't expect to grow big muscles over night. It takes time. Actually it's not a great idea to do muscle exercises "everyday" you should give your body a day off once in awhile. Better to exercise every other day. Don't rush or push your body, especially at your age - take you time.
