I would just try to see as many pitches as possible in the off season... spend alot of time in the cage, do soft toss, hit off a tee, and have someone who knows what they're doing watch you.go to a lot of batting cages and try to practice the basics like head on the ball ur pivit foot etc etc. start off in the batting cages with slow then go 2 medium then fast try to work ur way up practice will make u better. Also about half of your swing power comes from your legs....so do leg workout about 3 or 2 times a week. you should do some running on non lifting days as well. maybe one day, run a few miles, then another day do wind sprints. strengthening your legs will strengthen your swing for more power and a better hit. Good luck! :-)

Ok. There are many products on the market that can make you a better hitter. Cal Ripken Jr. recently made a video series that help you become an allaround better player. Specifically for hitting, I suggest constantly hitting a ball off a tee. For a faster, more efficient way, try one of those automated swing system thingies like the thing Derek Jeter was recently advertising.

there are millions of drills. here are two:
1)Bat Speed: this is how fast you swing the bat. get on your back knee and stretch your front leg straight. take a bat in your bottom hand and swing it ten times. switch hands and repeat. now do it with both hands on the bat. stand up and do it on your feet now. do that every day and increase the number of swings every month or so in increments of five.

2)Quiet Chin: you don't want your head to move when you swing. this drill requires a tee. you want the tee to be the mid point in a line from your eyes to a marker (make an "X" on the ground diagonnaly from your eyes off of the front corner of the plate). Place a ball on the tee and get set and hit it. if you're not looking directly at the marker, you moved your head. it's a good way to remind yourself to keep that chin down.

a tee is a great thing to own also work down on the ball i used to have a bad habit of dropping my should also keep your eye on the ball if you pull your head then you pop out and ground out. Also, hit the ball where it is pitched, if it is an inside pitch pull the ball if it is down the middle hit it straight back at the pitcher and center fielder and if it is away hit it the other way. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Get a hit-a-way.It helps your contact & will tire u out. Also try the new hitting tees that have the ball hang down instead of on a tee.You could probably find them at any sporting goods store.

im on my cities all-star team, and we have 50,000 people that live here, and one drill that we do in practice, and that i do on my own, is using a broomstick, and like a smaller ball, or even just a baseball, and practice hitting some kind of ball with the broomstick handle, it works... another is if ur just late swinging, then just choke up on the bat, creates a shorter and faster swing, and maximizes your hits.

Just swing hard when the ball comes and hope that you hit it. Make sure that you are still in balance and maybe take a shorter stride.
