You'll have to use CPUz.
You can find it here: http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpu-z-138.zip
Download it, unzip it and run it.
Go to the "Mainboard" tab and you'll see all the info.

there is a very good program called si-soft sandra light 2007(http://www.sisoftware.net/)
This program is used by myself and many other p.c enthusiasts to find out all kinds of information about our respective p.c,s
it gives you detailed info on motherbaords, processors, graphic cards, direct x,open gl,operating systems, internet config, basically everything you will ever need to know about your p.c
for you,it will give you the name and manufacturer of your motherboard, plus its will also give you the socket type and memory type you need,i use this to help me upgrade and so i get the correct memory upgrades
what i would recommend is run the motherboard module of the program and then print out the results so you can use them when looking for your new c.p.u
c.p.u,s (processors) are cheaper than ever at the moment, pentium 4,s are half price at the moment mainly due to the new dual core duo range, however pentium 4,s are far from rubbish,i still rate them as one of the fastest processors around, but not good if your a overclocker,go for a amd athlon64 if thats your interest
take alook at these websites for some good bargains on processors http://www.dabs.com/productlist.aspx?&CategorySelectedId=11147&NavigationKey=11147&PageMode=1,use the table at the top of the page to find the processor you want,i build around 10 p.c,s a year and i tend to go for the celerons(3.0ghz) and i pay around £36 for them
also try http://www.misco.co.uk/categories/~290~/Processors%20/%20CPUs.htm,these again are very inexpensive, and i can thouroughly recommend them
remember when upgrading your processor you will also need thermal compound to bond the heatsink to the processor, try this http://www.misco.co.uk/productinformation/~48267~WW~/index.htm,just apply a small amount and spread evenly across the top of the processor, then place the heatsink on top, remebering to allow for dispersion of compund, you dont want compound all over your motherboard
very good luck with your upgrade mate, and any advice you need ,let me know,i will be happy to help
cheers
