This, with out a doubt, would be Kreuzberg beer from the Kreuzberg Monastary on the mountain above Ober Wildflicken. The beer can only be purchased at the monastary or the gasthaus infront. It is the last Monastary beer (Klosterbier) brewery in Germany that is still 100% controlled by monks. All the other Kloster biers are either owned or run by a brewery.
This is not just my opinion, but rated the best beer in the world in 1987 by Playboy Magazine and several times by other papers and magazines.
Take a look at their site and webcam at:

The best beer in Germany is NOT in Bavaria, but in Frankonia. That it belongs to Bavaria now is no excuse not to know that.
Go to Bamberg, there are tiny breweries with pubs all over the place, more than 1 per 1000 inhabitants. You will not be able to decide on the best one, you'll probably have 3 or 4 favourites.
Apart from the beer, Bamberg is one of the loveliest cities in Europe, but with surprisingly few tourists, because the locals keep all the good stuff to drink themselves.

I live in Germany. And i think the best beer is, becks/Bremen. I like it so much!!!!
In Bavaria is the best beer, a weissbier like Franziskaner or Paulaner. But i think the best one is Erdinger Weissbier.
Greetings

You'll always get a biased answer on this...
Generally, most people like Augustiner Edelstoff (Munich) and for Weissbier Franziskaner (also Munich).
But with so many breweries around, especially small ones which few people know, it's hard to make a unbiased decision (I haven't tried every beer unfortunately :( ). Personally, I like Arcobräu (Moos b. Plattling), Karmeliten Gold (Straubing) or Tegernseer Spezial (Tegernsee). For Weissbier, Kuchlbauer (Abensberg) or Hopf (Miesbach).
By the way... for Weissbier forget the Erdinger factory beer (my personal opinion...)!!

The Czechs have some great pilsners, Belgians have some phenomenal trappist ales (Chimay blue reserve...mmmm), the Germans have too many great beers to list...but overall, you have to say the US. The US has more breweries than any other country in the World, by far, and the current craft-brewing momement has progressed to the point where you can find amazing beer without travelling too far from your front door. No other country brews as many styles with such fanatascism as the US.

Well - it is all a matter of taste. I guess Bavarian beer is just the best-known because of the OctoberFest. My favourite German beer is from the Rhineland and the type of beer is called Alt.
Most people I talk to think that Andechser is the best Bavarian beer. It is being brewed in an ancient monastery in a town called Andechs. They have 7 different varieties.

I was stationed in West Germany for many years prior to the wall coming down, and I must say that I have to many "best" to pick just one. Plus alot of the smaller breweries have closed or been took over by other breweries, so alot of the beers I enjoyed are no longer produced.
