the car wasn't steaming after it stalled. it appears that not all the coolant was lost as it still was leaking later when we had it towed. the towing company said that toyotas are susceptible to cracked heads when the engine temperature rises. finally, the car has had 100% synthetic oil for the past 4-years- I'm hoping that helps in this situation. just don't want to get ripped off by the franchise mechanic that is doing the repairs

right now id just replace the anti freeze and repair the hose on it,,it may not have hurt anything at all on it,,but only time will tell for sure,i own a repair shop, and id say its probably ok,as long as it didn't loose all of its coolant it might not have hurt it,,good luck.

IF it is a broken hose, than you would need to replace thehose and refill antifreeze. IF the motor overheated than ter eis a chance you will need a new head. I have been a mechanic for 5 years... this is a common thing.
BTW, using synthetic oil will do nothingn in this situation.

If the engine turns then its still repairable, if not then the engine has overheated and ceased and major probems.

it depends if the engine overheated or not. oil wouldnt have anything to do with it. err i would fix the hose myself and then try it
