If any. No offence taken if you prefer proper posh christmas cards. Personally i've been buying Unicef ones for about 5 years now. They're not cheap but i don't need many and they are good quality with very cheerfull prints. How about you?

No offense but I prefer to donate directly to the cause, not buy stupid things where only like half or not even of the proceeds go to charity just so I can show people that I donated.

If you were all so righteous, why don't you make sure 100% of your proceeds go to charity? Why do you need something that says you donated half of your money?

UNICEF and OXFAM (buy a goat etc!) the last couple of years. Some years I don't buy any!!
It's not out of altruism, but out of sense of something being saved for a good cause, however little - it's better than 100% going to a commercial enterprise.

Ideally I would like to see a card amnesty - say every 5 or 10 years where no-one produces or sends cards but instead money from industry and individuals goes to Children in Need or any other charity - it probably needs a Bob Geldorf to set a fund up and get things in motion.

Indeed the Unicef cards are lovely. I do however, as others have mentioned, donate (admittedly only a little) directly to the cause. I am in uni, so there isn't a lot of extra money, but what we might pay for an extra order of chips or somesuch could, if a lot of people contribute, make a huge difference.
Far better to be of a giving heart, and give a little, no matter how you give, than to do nothing at all.

I prefer to donate directly to what ever charity I am supporting at the time.

Christmas cards are getting on my nerves now, hundreds from neighbours and work colleagues, how long does it take to wish someone Happy Christmas, have a drink, come round one evening or what ever.

I am now only sending Christmas cards to those who I rarely see, and to people I really do care for. I ring most and have a lovely chat or send a long chatty letter, much nicer!

I choose a different one each year, usually Amnesty, Friends of the Earth, Campaign Against the Arms Trade, Crisis or Shelter. But I also give directly to most of those charities, too.

I usually go for ones which support either child / animal related charities. I also usually donate to actual collectors throughout the year. I don't think it's that important to let the charity know who's donated though, surely that is more for self gratification than caring about the charity?

Generally a different charity each year, nice to spread the charity around at this time of year, this year were supporting the blind and lifeboats.

I tend not to send any cards at all, I donate money to SANDS (stillbirth and neonatal death society) All of it goes to them as opposed to any money being taken out to manufacture the cards. I have done this for the last few years, and will carry on with the same charity.
