I'm not comfortable when you said, "TELL YOU what to do." To me, that sounded demanding and controlling.
If that is your question, then - NO - I do not let people tell me what to do. I do not allow others to control my life.
I DO however, remain open to opinions, suggestions and advice from others - especially when I am indecisive about things.
We all have ONE LIFE (that we know of) and even if we are born with another (twins) or others (multi-births), we remain independently INDIVIDUAL.
Our lives ARE our own.
The decisions we make COULD be our own.
The experiences we explore SHOULD be our own.
So stand strong and stay happy, my friend. Life is too short to surrender YOUR time on earth to others.
If you're unsure, LEARN MORE. That will help you become as "knowledgeable" as those who are unafraid to "tell you what to do sometimes" with your life.
Good luck and thanks for posting.

There are certain people I am willing to accept their telling me what to do:
God
Doctors
My personal trainer
My husband (only at certain times of the day...lol)
The guy at the other end of the phone when he is telling me which wire to cut (I have watched too much tv. this weekend)
The guy telling me how to land a plane when the pilot has been poisoned by an elite group of ninja penguins (too much tv. indeed).
My alter ego.

Never....I am the boss at work, my patents are gone, I have 2 kids, which makes me dad. The only person I answer to is my sweet wife. She is my equal, not my boss.

Never. I'm pretty bossy. Unless I'm playing truth or dare. Then I have no choice.
