"Proxy" really means "proxy server," which is a network service that allows client computers to access certain network resources indirectly through the proxy rather than the particular network that houses the needed resources.
A firewall is software or hardware that prevents certain types of communication (usually of the malicious sort) between networks or sections of a network.
Somtimes a firewall can block a network resource that you need, necessitating use of a proxy server to get around it.

Hi!
The firewall is the connection manager of the system, blocking all unrequested traffic to your PC: unsolicited connections, connections to various ports, untrusted connections, etc.
The proxy server is a server that allows you to connect from your network to the Internet.
Good luck!

"da pimpsta" hit the nail on the head...if they could take some typing lessons and relearn English too, that'd be great...
proxify.com is a good proxy site. Costs money though...I don't know of any free ones.
