My husband is Polish and his family celebrates Wigalia on Christmas eve. So the kids get all those presents then.
At home we always allow one gift opened, and they are always pajamas.
That was the tradition in my home as a kid, and is the tradition now with my kids.
Guarantees that the kids have nice jammies for Christmas morning pictures.

Our kids get all their presents on Christmas Eve so as not to take from the true meaning of Christmas Day. The birth of Jesus. We have a cake and sing Happy Birthday to Jesus on that day.

Yes because there are mutiple family celebrations. It was a tradition during my childhood, too. Even in years when we didn't travel for Christmas eve, my parents planned one gift for each of us, that would be opened Christmas Eve. It helps little ones get to sleep.

no we just stay up till midnight start singing and then we sit with our parents and the people who bought the prersents for us would hand it to us and every one would watch us open the presents so it won't be loud and so we don't ask what did our cousin get because my aunt hates when we do that!!!but when i have kids i will make sure they open the presents crazy.one on christmas eve and the rest on christmas!!

We let them open a "family" gift, and an extra on Christmas Eve. The family gift is always a new board game to play. The extra gift is always a new pair of PJ's! They look forward to it each year. All the other gifts are open on Christmas morning......bright and early!! :)
Merry Christmas to all!!
Happy B-Day Jesus!!

We celebrate Jesus Birthday on Christmas Eve so families can have Christmas Day with their young children. At Jesus B-Day we all open gifts from our brothers, sisters, parents, (for those of us who have children) and cousins.

We celebrate Christmas with my husband's family on Christmas Eve. So the kids get to open a bunch of gifts that night. But they can only play with one toy that night. Mainly because we open gifts at 7pm. So being that late we have to limit them. But we let them check everything out and put it next to tree for santa to see and leave batteries for. As for the stocking, they have to wait Santa fills them.

Being of Swedish and Dutch heiritage , we opened family gifts Christmas eve and then Christmas morning we opened gifts from Santa and then went to my Irish/Dutch grandparents to get more.
Most kids are so excited around Christmas that I think opening one gift settles them down. My girlfriend let her kids open one gift, it was Christmas PJs or Nighties and they got so they looked forward to what kind of pjs/nightie they were getting each year as the whole family got the same gift to open. Don't think it does any harm.
