i work in the cosmetics department at walgreens so i've been sellinga lot of perfumes and colognes in the past week or so as people are christmas shopping. first of all check out the gift sets before you buy, they are an immensly better deal then just buying a single bottle.
i wouldn't go for stetson personally but i love stetson black (if the age thing helps i'm 22 by the way) also the big sellers have always been the adidas colognes.i like the adiadas adrenaline personally, and got it for my stepbrother last year and he was 15 and i know he used it. right now at my store we have gift sets with three different adidas colognes in it. and i sold a bunch of those ones yesterday. also if you go to the store and aren't sure then go up to the counter (walgreens anyway) and they will set you up with testers so you can pick one that you're not going to get sick of as well. lol some boys tend to go overboard on sprays, trust me.
also axe body sprays are always big sellers all year round as well. but again, those go on strong so teach him how to use them. you'll be doing him a big favor, and everyone else.
good luck, but shop soon, things are starting to run out.

I'd have to agree with the Preferred Stock suggestion above. I received my first bottle at age 14 and am never without some at home.
In the price range you are looking at, Wal-Mart has several male fragrances that are generally well received. For some of the other names suggested above, you would have to go to a more upscale retailer and end up paying WAY more, well above your budget.
Other colognes I like are Adidas Moves, Hugo Boss, Davidoff Cool Water, Victoria's Secret For Men and Clinique Happy For Men.

Davidoff Coolwater, Tommy for men, and Preferred Stock are all good choices.I would see if they had them in gift sets, because you get a better deal.
