Wow, you have a lot of money to blow for someone who's 20 and can't even spell "carat" or "a lot" correctly. Do you think anyone will notice perfect colour and clarity anyway? Save yourself about 13k and go a couple grades down. They will look exactly the same unless you plan on looking at them under a loup all day. $16 is also a rip off for what you're explaining here, unless you mean perfect colour and clarity, not just "very good". Personally, I think expensive jewelery is a waste and just a way for people to flaunt their wealth to others assuring some sort of status level, however at least it wouldn't depreciate like a vehicle would. Why not use it as a down payment on a house? Do you own your own home as it is? Is it completely paid off? If not, put that money onto the prinicple and build equity in your home. If so, maybe you'd like to purchase an investment property and flip it in a few years. Rather be safe? Stick it into a nice long term mutual fund for retirement. Don't waste it! You take good care of your extra earnings instead of buying petty things now, you could retire when you're only 50 while everyone else has to work for another 15 years.

Well I'm about $7,000 in debt. I sure could use some of what you have...And what do you do for work, because I'd sure as hell like to know, at 20 y/o, you're younger than me but richer?

Why don't you try giving instead of buying for yourself? Give to a charity or help out someone less fortunate. Diamond earrings, no matter what the cut, clarity or color will not get you ahead in life. They'll just make your ears sparkle...

well first of all, its "CARAT".

i feel like you can do what you want with your money, but if i were you i would have put that 15,800 towards a down payment and build a home.
jewelry is no longer a status thing. basically you just spent all that money to try and impress people, and it wont work. because when i see someone with that kind of jewelry, i think, "they dont know how to manage money, cause if they were really that wealthy, they would be driving a Maserati, living in a fully paid off custom home, having stocks that are booming, and have a good 401K plan.

earrings say nothing, and frankly, its ghetto, i think, to spend money on unnecessary "Bling".
what kind of cars do you drive? Ford Tauruses? Hyundais?

and honestly, on someone your age, it would look like the fake ones that gross ghetto guys wear to look cool. no matter what.

yes.

why did you spend so much on your earrings? YOU'RE A GUY FOR GOD'S SAKE!

personally, I find that only a moron would spent that much on a pair of earrings....people are dying in some parts of the world and your $15800 could have save thousands of lives.

besides, nobody will notice the color and clarity. most people would probably assume that yout bought them at some shops that sell cheap earings.

you should have put the $15800 into your bank and save it for the future

A 20 year old male is worthy of wearing earrings that cost 16 grand only--ONLY, if his last album won a couple of Grammys.
That or the team that he plays for is going to the playoffs.
Think about it.

YES. Yes, yes it is.
Wait, you have 2 cars? Well, still. $15,800.00 on earrings??? Jeez. You must either have a very well-paying job, or very affluent parents.
Either way, YES, it's way too much.
Of course, I'm a little biased here--I find guys who spend insane amounts of cash just to look "good" extremely unattractive.

I think spending that much on earrings is too much for anyone but if that's what you want to spend your money on then I don't see what's wrong, it's your choice.

I'd rather buy a cheap pair of earrings myself.

If they're for you, you know the answer to this question.

If you bought them for someone else, you better be getting one hell of a lay.
