I think you mean how do you RENOUNCE American citizenship. You should be a citizen of another country first otherwise you'll become a stateless individual with practically no rights anywhere. Once that condition is met, you need to appear in person before a U.S. consular or diplomatic officer, in a foreign country (normally at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate); and sign an oath of renunciation.

If it is you that wants to denounce...just leave.
Anyone else just has to make a statement, which will contain lies, halftruths, and paints the orator as deranged.
This is the greatest country on earth. Not perfect, but do you or this person who plans to denounce citizenship know of a better place?

leave the country...if you denounce your citizenship in america, you become illegal because you aren't a citezen nor do you have any papers. Leave the country if you don't like it! Take your illogical and shotsighted anit-governmentalist friends with you. Such idiots have nothing better to do than to make more trouble for this country than it already has...btw go back to 3rd grade while you are at it...learn how to reason again.

If you want to renounce your citizenship, you should read the story about John Nash first. After he developed his bipolar and other mental diseases, he tried to turn his passport in to foreign embassies ... they actually wouldn't let him renounce his citizenship!
And the other countries wouldn't take him, because they couldn't figure out why a citizen of the greatest country on Earth would want to do such a thing!
Gain dual citizenship first, if you really want to try.
