It will take quite a while before the monitor start up. As I have a laptop too, I could see my pc MSN being online but the monitor of the PC is still blank.

Check the connections, unplug and connect again! If it doesn't still, contact for monitor service. If the dealer says the main part - the screen - needs to be replaced, better get a new monitor!

check ur connection if its loosen..or check your monitor spec..how long it will take to warm up
