I accidentally closed the last question. How much should I offer for the 1952 Ford Crestline Victoria? NADA puts a low retail 52 at $6,425, but that is in mechanically functional condition, needing only minor reconditioning. Which is not this car. Thank you for your help!

P.S. if you have anything to add to "What do you do first to fix a car that has been sitting for 9 years?", feel free to add it here...

P.P.S. see that question for more details.

based upon the nada i would check the motor to see if it was locked up, held water and was rusted in areas that I would have to hire to be repaired. the tranny, is it a standard? then it is most likely ok. need tires? it will need a complet brake job with hose to the cylinders on frt. ck for availability.needs tires? add these things up and decide what u will hire to do. and include paint if nec, and subtract from 6500.oo and see what happens. good luck

what to do first...

have been building cars (racing) since i was 18 years old and the first thing to do is to get it to a work shop and then start to R & R (ripe it off and replace it) everything.
at this time if you have no clue on how to do things then the best thing to do is pay for it let someone that knows how, where, and why, do the job (yes it is expensive but better safe than sorry)
Have fun rebuilding..

Well I would offer lower than the low book value you quoted, like 5000 tops, and of course you know you will put about the same into it restoring, maybe less or maybe more, depending on what you have to or want to do.

First I would see how hard it is to find engine and body parts for it. If it was a Mustang you can find anything you need, but a Crestline Vic? Some outfits will fabricate body parts (side panels, bumpers), but if you need glass you are screwed. As is I would offer $50.
