It can split two ways (In my opinion!)

There are those who have a high level of self-esteem and confidence, to put a positive spin on it, and these are happy to share firm opinions freely because it is intuitively obvious to them that their opinons are valuable and right.

And there are those, probably with less self confidence, who, if they wish to hold an opinion, research it to the hilt and consider alternate possibilities. Doubts need to be settled, before confidence can emerge. but when they have developed an opinion it is going to be pretty solid and not easy to shake.

I suspect the former are more common, but that the latter do exist. I see some very firm opinions expressed on YA based on very little evidence or experience.

I think it has less to do with experience and more to do with their own agenda. They want to be noticed.
They are also prone to researching only those sources of information that they agree with.
These people tend not to be open-minded.
I am basically speaking about people who are highly opinionated on many topics not just one or two.
Most people have strong opinions on a subject or two. That's normal.

I think its both. You have some people who wanna show how smart they are by putting thier 2 cents into everything. Then, you have those who have been there and done that and wanna share. I, for one, like to give advice on things I have had specific experiences with. I figure, why let someone make the same mistakes I made when I can try to prevent it?

Highly opinionated people have super-size egos. They need to be heard.
Because being heard makes them feel important, which in turn feeds their enormous egos.
Experience of life doesn't play a part.

People who are "highly opinionated" about everything are generally uninformed bores.

Many people may have one or two things they are very passionate about and will be adamant about their opinions, such as their personal belief in God.

I think they're really insecure and they're trying to make everybody think they're smarter then they really are.
