Man, I LOVE Modilfaoy's reply; it screams "feminist divorced from reality (yeah, I know that's redundant). According to her, women don't want to get into porn. And yet, there are MANY women in porn. But no, no, the explanation is simply male dominance! They're all forced, I tells ya! Every last one railroaded into porn by all those filthy MEN (who are in porn because they're PIGS).
Never mind that the qualifications for porn are only average looks and the right plumbing, making it ideal for even the most brain-dead whore. Never mind that the amount of money they get from spreading their legs is absurd (and MUCH higher than those oppressive penis-bearers get). Never mind that feminism is supposed to be about women CHOOSING how they want to live their life (unless feminists don't like the choice, as with porn actresses or housewives!).
No, no, it's all male oppression. Those clever, handsome devils! Laughing evilly as they twirl their waxed mustaches and tie helpless womyns to the train tracks of the sex industry.

If you take away the sexually, physically and mentally abused, then you'd probably lose half the porn industry. Some girls are hooked on smack and pimped at a young age, so they're basically sex slaves. If you talk to any strippers, you'll find that they are drunk or high most of the time they are at work. Many normal guys see these girls with their sleazeball boyfriends and wonder why such a sexy girl would be with such a guy, when she could find a good guy who is OK with their profession. There are very few chicks who are sober and just trying to make some good money for school, or whatever. The smart girls like that are the real pimps and know how to play guys for their hard earned money. If a girl has no emotional baggage, then I assume she just really likes sex, is very open minded, sees guys acting like pigs without accountability, wants good money and is completely happy getting paid for something she does for free in private.

Many answers here are absurd and ignorant including steves very anti-fem stated answer. Porn is easy money sure but not for long - for many it is a very short live career (it's physically damaging and mentally damaging) and only the very few make it big. Their careers are usually very short lived and not all make top dollars. I see porn as a meat grinding industry for the young misguided, a few desperate, maybe a few wannabe top porn start (false conception of the glamour it holds) kind of women. There are different reasons why a girl might enter the porn industry one being desperate for quick money, some girls may have already been in the adult entertainment industry as strippers, nude models and decides to go further, and do porn. Some for the fake glamour it seems to show. Many other reasons i'm sure.
Most if not all girls who do enter the sex industry come from underprivileged backgrounds, often desperate situations in life, with little other choice in life that can provide them with quick, fast, relatively decent income. They only see the easy money part and are blinded to everything else the porn industry has to offer. But don't be fooled, there are many girls that unfortunately do not make the big bucks as they get pimped around for the body - their pimps can essentially take as much as they please too and give little in return. Many girls who do enter the industry have a high chance of getting STIs, becoming drug addicts and alcoholics. It's not uncommon for porn starts to be high or even overdosed on painkillers during some hardcore/brutal scenes.

the money is very, very good. You could do porn for a year (if you cut a good deal) limit your spending and not have to work for another two years or longer.
many porn stars are married and a lot of have children. their partners accept what they do and enjoy the cash flow brought into their homes. naturally the kids don't know what they do. its a job- and they think of it like that.
some women enjoy the sex, others the fame, others the acting and getting to be a different person each day, and some just like breaking the rules.if the girl feels beautiful she may like showing it off.
its also a good job for those who are still in school or never got a degree. they make as much or more than people with degrees.
these girls can also move up to producing and directing their own films

Along with that, there ARE a lot that have ruined family lives at home (as teens) and get dragged into the industry by the lure of easy cash...along with many of the reasons Wolf stated. One reason Wolf didn't state is that women love to be admired for their beauty...clothes on or off. I hope a porn-star chimes in here....hey, it could happen. (Maybe it already has?)

I agree- most of the women in porn just love sex, and the money far exceeds what the average person makes in conventional lines of work, even for some skilled professionals. But that's the nature of entertainment industries, whether you're talking music, movies, sports or adult entertainment. The top performers, the superstars in all these categories earn more than politicians, lawyers and doctors let alone jobs like police officers and teachers. Now for the rest- the ones who aren't stars? They make decent money and have easy hours.
So it's not surprising that girls with the option of working retail, or temping would prefer to bang out $1,000 in 1-2 days, rather than 2 weeks, plus the stress of trying to come up with the rent, never having time for anything else.
They live with themselves because they don't have many reservations about sex or their bodies to begin with- the women who were strongly inclined not to have sex until married or never being seen nude- they stay far away from porn. These are the girls who'd be looking to hook up with hot guys at bars & parties anyway, it's just in their current line of work, they get paid for it.

the pay isn't super great for everyone,... for the ones involved in the higher end productions, its good, but as for most of the rest which are a dime a dozen,.. its okay money, comprable to working a regular job,.. acccept.... your hours are next to nothing... you "perform" and other thatn that,. thats all the work you do,...
But the some of the opinions on here are right,.. ladies need to get a clue,... you can' have your cake and eat it too, everyones different, everyone does things for different reasons,.. so chill out,. stop blaming everything thats offensive to you on men
