You can tell at 12 weeks if the equipment is good enough, the baby cooperates, and, of course, if the doctor is good enough! It's likely that, if the doctor "saw" you were having a girl he'd say it was too early to know for sure; there's more confidence when they identify a boy, not surprisingly. It could still turn out to be wrong, but that's just the way it is with ultrasounds and sex identification.
Congratulations!

Well that is very controversial I think it is kinda early but possible. Usually the baby starts to develop around 13-14 weeks and 14-15 weeks they are pretty complete (so that you can tell for sure boy or girl) I know it is common to tell at 14-15 weeks but I guess he could have developed a little early and have the beginning signs of a boy.I would not go all boy crazy yet just to make double sure!!

usually they can tell if you're having a boy from 15 weeks and beyond. 12 weeks is slightly early. I probably wouldn't go by that...
On the bright side however there's a 50% chance that he's right :)

Dont be so sure its a boy, i was told i was having a boy at 24weeks as we couldnt tell b4 at my other scans, believe me you should buy neutral colours, as in the end even tho I had brought lots of blue and had been told i was having a boy, turned out I had a beautiful baby girl.. but whos complaining?

yeah you definite do. you're going to bleed alot and you're going to be in a hell of plenty of suffering aswell. i misscarriaged final year and i used to be eight weeks pregnant and i used to be rushed to the ER. it took me and my associate this lengthy to have an extra little one, i appreciate why your so involved tho, i used to be involved once they advised me i used to be pregnant on account that i used to be eight weeks whilst i learned with this one and that i suggestion the identical factor might occur. iam now 30 weeks pregnant and the whole lot is nice with my little guy so far as i do know. check out to not suppose neg approximately the complete little one factor both on account that it makes you pressure extra. simply be confident and the whole lot shall be nice im definite. well success and congrats. oh and in case your now not bleeding or in plenty of suffering, then you don't have anything to worrie approximately.(thats what i used to be advised) for those who little one wasnt alive your frame might will let you recognize through bleeding.

You can't. The genitals may have just been swollen. Which is not uncommon. Little boys are usually easier to determine, but I wouldn't hold your doctor too this prediction at all.

i dont think any one can determine the sex of the fetus at 12 weeks by any ultrasound machine with the finest resolution available today, even with transvaginal probe. so you can take his prediction with a pinch of salt as 50% chances are that he is correct.

I would DEFINITELY wait until your next ultrasound to make sure.
But, it's cool, that you can see a doctor this early on a Sunday morning for a regularly scheduled appointment. You must be special

your doctor must have the best eye sight in history.
I was told at 15 weeks and was stunned.
12 weeks is waaaaay too soon to see the genitals.
