it is possible to get a false positive but very rare to get a false negative. From experience i would have to say that you are not pregnant, but if you still think you are then get another test.

I had this exact thing happen to me with one of those 'early' pregnancy tests. I showed up positive, and then took another the next day and the line got even fainter (almost invisible.) Not to upset you but, a couple of days later I miscarried. I found out this is quite common (especially with 'ept's) and is called a 'chemical pregnancy'. They say up to 50% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage, many of them before it's too early to really know that you're pregnant. I went on to have three successful pregnancies and I no longer use ept's...I just use the tests that are 99% effective the day that you miss your period. Less heartache that way!!
Best of luck to you!!

Its possible to get a false negative but rare to get a false positive. You should wait until you miss your period to take the test but if you can't wait, at least use the first pee of the day. The pregnancy hormone that the test reads for is most concentrated at that time. I like the first response tests. Also, remember that the second line (the positive line) may be much lighter than the base line. Make sure you read your test directions so you can test properly.

ok. Wait till you are about 14 days post ovulation. or have a missed period. The pregnancy test I use and tell people to use are the digtial ept or clearblue easy. They say pregnant or not pregnant there is no guesing the colors or lines etc
Babysdust i hope everything works out for u. Try the digital after u missed the period etc.

Well It is very unusual to have a false pos. Did you use diff. tests( diff brand?) They say the bast brand is first response. Another good brand that is not quite as good but still can tell kinda early ...depending on you is equate brand from walmart.( like 3.50 for 1 test) I think you need to buy one of these tests and re test for accurate results. They also say to make it fool proof you need to pee in a cup and dip the stick in there for how many sec. they say. Here is a web site to help you on deciding on preg tests and all your other questions.

Chances are you were pregnant with a chemical pregnancy, one that existed but was lost very early on (before your period was due)
