I have not read President Carters new book, but i will tell you that (unlike almost all of you) I don't NEED a book to tell me what is going on in Palestine because I go there regularly. The entire history of the state of Israel has been murky and secrative from the very beggining. People are so quick to defend Israel with emotional arguments without getting to the bottom of the facts.
People often say that Israel has to constantly defend itself from terrorist attacks. PPPPFFFFFTT.......... BULLSH!T !!!! The few attacks that take place are blow out of proportion and used to justify a never ending military occupoation. Who REALLY benifits?
My father was born and raised in a Refugee camp just outside of Jerusalem. When I go to visit family I get the raw truth. Women have literally given birth to their children while being held up in military checkpoints on their way to the hospital. People are made homeless, their houses reduced to rubble by Israeli bulldozers. People killed wholesale, away from the public eye. You have to be one nieve S.O.B. to believe the sh!t that they tell you. The whole conflict should really be called a botched, or ongoing, or partial INVASION
The provebial ball really is in Israels court, If they could ever really and truelly respect the gentiles as human beings and treat an entire Nation of refugees and orphans the way humans deserve to be treated, they would solve all of their problems (although if they were ever to be really fair they would return the homeland to all that were born there)
Oh, to the fool above who wrote that the Jews have always lived there and there was no Palestine. Before 1924 the entire Middle East was ruled by an Islamic Khalifah. Palsetine was more of a state than a country, but there were still familys and communities who called Palestine home. You never heard of Jews and Arabs fighting, or terrorism until Europe and the west began colonizing and dividing the Middle East and upsetting the order that was established.
May God curse ALL evil doers (Jews and Arabs alike) and may God avenge all wrongful deaths and wicked deeds.

Jimmy Carter is the Genius President who told Castro to let anyone leave Cuba who wanted to, so Castro opened up the prisons and guess who ended up with them? Carter was also in office when interest rates on mortgages climbed to almost 18%. He was a one-term President for a reason and now he's a Statesman spouting off when it's not his place to do so. If I were Palestinian and Israel threw me off my land, and out of my home I'd fight to get it back too, regardless of who gave my home away. Palestine wasn't part of the Holocaust. Why didn't someone give the Jews Germany to live in?

I assure you that had Carter written the book in favor of the Israelis, everyone would be praising him and forgiving him.
But since it reveals the truth about the Palestinians, people are condemning him and his book, which is obviously unfair and unwarranted.
I agree, Israel is definitely the source of the conflict. The Palestinians had their own land, and the Israelis were given authority over it. Who wouldn't be upset? Why should the Palestinians suffer just because of the Holocaust? Were they the ones responsible?

Well, since at least one person high up in the Carter staff has quit over the misrepresentations (i.e., lies) Carter put in his book about his presidency, I think the anger is simply over the book not being true. And we sure don't need a senile old man muddying the already murky waters of the Middle East with his repeatedly wrong and foolish ideas out of a desperate desire to build some form of legacy for his failed presidency. Carter should go back to building houses and stay out of today's political forum.

Roch Cop, Kathy, & Debra all have the correct answer. Carter is an embarrassment to his country and should keep his opinions to himself. He was a worthless president and to make amends he wants to bring peace to the world by causeing more friction. He should just go away.

Carter is a typical liberal who blames the US and Israel for everything. Now, here's a little tidbit of history. There never was a country called Palestine. The Jews have been there for several thousands of years, they never left and came back. Learn history before you start repeating it.

Carter must have been stoned on paragoric when he wrote this lying piece of trash. It's blatently one sided and chock full of plagerisms. Even arch liberals have condemned this book as nonsence, or even worse, propaganda. caarter was a horrible president and he's an even worse author.
