Different animals react differently to the same test. What is safe on animals is not necessarily safe on humans. Is it ok to test on animals? Isn't it arrogant of humans to think that they can just go and mutilate animals?

YES because firstly its unbelievably curel and secondly because it has no relevance to what the outcome will be when the product is tested on people, if the drug is fine on chimpanzees it could still kill a human being thie genetic are just too different

ok, my take on this.
Some companies, such as Body Shop, do test their products on their employees (my cousins hair fell out during one of their tests!).
Testing products such as shampoos and cosmetics on animals is indeed wrong.
However, testing medicines on animals I believe is the right course. I have several friends who work with the animals at laboratories. The animals are well looked after, properly fed and cared for, and if any experiment on them causes the animal harm, then the experiment is immediately stopped and the animal is treated for any injuries.
Animal testing has come a long way. The images of animals with horrible mutilations that are all too common in anti-vivisection material were all taken in the 70s and 80s. Most places just do not do this now.
I am not saying every place is like this, as I'm sure there are places that still do horrible things to animals, but the majority do not.

Yes, it should be banned. It is morally wrong after all animals have feelings too and are just as entitled to live their lives in peace as are humans. What would you say if tests were carried out on humans for products that are used on animals!

What people do not do "in the name of science". I feel that testing products on animals in wrong. Scientist will not do the same tests on there children so what gives then the right to use animal. All because animals cannot talk and don't stand up for themselves does not give man the right to abuse them. Unfortunately animal cruelty is becoming all to common in our world today.

A recent report said that animal testing was necessary. However, the people who funded the report are the ones benefiting from the testing! I think it's immoral that animals are used in this way, especially as there are many in-vitro testing techniques which can produce reliable results.

Yes it is very cruel to mutilate animals but they banned it once in 1900's and they tested it on humans but they stopped after a woman died after testing mascara so they went back to testing on animals particulary rabbits and dogs mostly.

Absolutley. It is cruel to animals. What if the food isn't okay and it makes the dog/cat (animal being tested on) get sick and/or die? I used to feed my cats iams, but now I don't because they use animals to test their food. Come on. Animals are like people, they have feelings too!
