The oil resources of Iraq since the war began have been controlled by the UN who created the DFI, the Development fund for Iraq.
In this way the world was assured that the considerable assets from the Iraqi Oil would be protected from corruption, and the concern was with the government officals of Iraq, since the US has never had the ability to control the Oil.
In 2005 it was uncovered that over 500 million dollars of Oil assets were missing, and their was a trail of contracts indicating that the assets were spent on Islamist Terrorist group funding, as well as into the pockets of the corrupt government officals.
The situation is being managed by the U.N. until peace is firmly in place, then l can only imagine the situation will be returned to the existin Iraqi Government.
