Hi, I'm in the process of buying an old toyota corolla and have been told it's going to need its timer belt replaced...
Being clueless mechanically I'm just wondering how much this is going to cost me, and how soon I'll need to do it.
Anybody able to help me out here?

Will anyone besides Applele (who gives the same answer to EVERY question!) help me out here?

first of all don't buy it till u see it run.. the reason is if they broke the timing belt the engine is most likely ruined. be carefull here.the belt , if it has one, (could be a chain if it's oldenough) is about 2 to 4 hrs labor depending on the trouble it is .. about 200 to 300 will do the belt. but as I said, when the belt breaks the valves hit the pistons. and depending on the engine speed at the time, it wiil damage the engine.
