yeah, iPods can be connected, which is great, but i tell you what i've noticed a lot of and thats these chavvy types all sitting at the back of buses listening to tunes through their phones....a right tinny mess it sounds, and its generally beyonce, or if you're in brum some bhangra cack....but anyhow, looks like thats the replacement and i think its a symptom of the rancid individualism this society has created...at least with a boom box it was a gang together, now its just loads of kids listening to their own thing and not uniting...whatever

Yep the boombox of the 80's has died. The Ipod is king of MP3 players. There are smaller boomboxes, and I have seen at least half a dozen that take have a slot you slide your Ipod into the radio. I have even seen alarm clocks set up for the Ipod. Well Apple sure has taken the Ipod to the bank and more!!

Well,I still have one.Have owned it since 1984 ! The conion CF-100 for those of you old enough to have owned or seen one of these humble ghetto boxes! I am a firm believer that if they build them, that this generation of 20 somethings will buy them, albiet not with the exciting type of music blasted through those speakers of my day back in the 80s and early 90s..Hopefully, as these iconic radios are reintroduced to a new generation of fans, that the companies will also try to bring back the tape deck. I hope before I become a true geezer , that I can buy myself one final ghetto box to play my old disco and rap tapes from my youth.Keeping my fingers crossed !

with all the new technology, they might never come back. its like, in about 20 years, no-one will be using ipods as there will be something even smaller and compact that can make the right amount of sound.

First there were radios, then there were those small mini tvs in black and white, then came the colour ones. black and white tvs are not coming back anytime. i guess its the same sorta think here...

Some people still use radios, but thats a small majority of people, so its the same with boomboxes - a small majority of people use them, but its all about ipods and stuff now

Nothing will be like it was... It will be smaller. Bose has got an "music center" that sounds like a huge system. It about getting smaller today. If you still have boom box put it in an museum with the rest of the dinosaurs.
