and she is getting bitten by mosquitos more frequently than ever before. Has anyone else experienced this effect during pregnancy?

Yes, pg women excrete more carbon monoxide than usual. Which makes us much more tasty than usual to the little blood suckers. She needs to use something to prevent them from biting her, but it must be deet free.
Back during the summer I couldn't walk out in my yard w/out attracting every mosquito in the neighborhood. It was miserable, I just wanted to water my plants, but it was too much effort to spray myself down w/ smelly stuff that would make me gag...it was a no win situation, so I just stayed indoors.
