It is termed Deja Vu, but some say it actually a mistake your brain makes as it is 'writing' the memory, it actually does it twice. But then again, I think we experience so many things in our lives, it can't be THAT rare that the exact same thing happens again... and perhaps we forget about them because they're just small things, but seeing it again brings the memory to surface.

This is called "deja-vu" (French term). They say it happens because Time is a human "tool". In the Universe, there is no time. Therefore, what we feel we have experienced before, is that somehow "Time" is playing games and Past and Present mix. There is no Now, there is no Before. It is kind of weird and a little difficult to be understood, but those who have studied this deja-vu, this is how they explain it.
