Religion takes the blame for this,as well as so many other problems in our troubled world. Very poor people have always turned to what ever church or Mosque they may worship at. Many times such things as family planning are not allowed and babies just come as they come. This was much the case in some of the poorer places of England and Ireland in the 19th century. Often today in many African and Asian countries child survival rates are so poor its more or less thought ok to have a large family to ensure some survive and take care of the parents in their old age. Its a fact that racism plays a part in hunger,but its also true that the leaders or dictators of many poor states avoid the critism if the world community for corruption and money spent in civil wars,etc. The "Band Aid" of the 1980s seemed to have be a turning point in the wests constant giving to what had become an ever open pit with a lot of the donated moey not even reaching the needy.

I would definitely choose my pet. Because if the child is already at the aids stage the poor kid doesn't have much of a chance. Let the kid die in peace.

Sorry but I would save my pet, I adore my dog and animals treat you better than most people. Yes I am an animals rights activist not an extreme one but I do believe animals have just as much rights as we do.

the pet. the world will still get more aids whatever you do to the child. but when I got back to my house I would give a GIANT chunk of my money to an aids fund.

The child a human life is the best way to go because there is only one person like that you can never replace them.

i would save the child for obvious reasons but also because my pets are birds and fish, so they could save themselves. but what difference would it make if the boat is going to sink anyway?
