What's the minium amount of land I need, I suppose I also need a small army....any help would be most appricated.... I'll be building this country inside Ireland, best answer can be my minister for Information or minister for foreign affairs, whichever they like....
I know a guy done it in western australia as he was unhappy with the Australian tax system, he's now got his own currency and is the only country to have a private army inside america....

Just to state there is a country within Western Australia, it's near Kalbarri, I have me passport stamped from there, I also have some of the currency...He managed to set it up as there was nothing in the law in Australia at the time so say you could not start your own country within the country. Princess Di has visited there and so have a lot of leaders through out the world....

As for setting a country up, suggest the original question poster have a read of what they did on that site to declare it an independent principality. Just goes to show it CAN be done.

There are no independent nations within Western Australia, having their own currency or otherwise. (or within the whole of Australia for that matter)
Therefore, your "knowledge" is totally false.
It is possible that someone has a spoof one set up to amuse you tourists, but I doubt that anyone would stamp another country's passport with a spoof stamp, its probably in contravention of some international agreements/laws somwhere along the line.
Similarly, I doubt very much indeed whether there are any private armies within America as you seem to state.
Also your question appears to cross between Western Australia and America, but again there are no private armies within Australia.
To start your own country you need something to physically be your own country. It was once attempted to make a nation out of one of the old WW2 platforms out towards the North Sea somewhere in international waters.
You could always ask an established nation if they would cede part of their land to you, but I doubt that Ireland would be too keen.

There are enough and more territorial barriers already apart from the other physical and emotional divisions in this planet. We have to think of unifying people emotionally to begin with and teritorially over time. Even a little effort made in this direction is worth all the praise - Jesus, Budha and Mohammad are not just owned by their countries of origin but a whole lot of societies - belonging to different races, languages and so on - across the globe... So are Mother Theresa and Mahatma Gandhiji... Earn that empire of love and comradeship... That country and its maker could never be conquered by any other power!

Anyway, even if you buy the land, it doesn't mean you're exempt from the rules of the nation where the land is in, you'd have to start a militia and demand that the country let you break away from it and let you declare independence.
Or you could go to the UN and whine about it until they force Ireland to give you some land.

You wouldn't need a lot of land. The smallest country in the world is Liechtenstein in Europe. Its total pop. is 33,987 and it is 160 sq. km. - about 0.9 time the size of Wash, DC. The country is neutral so it doesn't have military or weapons.
What you would need would be something special to offer as a reason why people would want to live in your country.

The "guy" you know does not have a country in America, if he has an army it is illegal, and if he has his "own" money it's worthless. Your best bet, if you want your own country, would become a Muslim radical and become the leader of Somalia.

Its a very bad idea. I just hope you can't otherwise all the foreigners who have invaded the u.k will start setting up their own country's within it. Before we will have mini Pakistan, mini Africa, mini Poland etc etc etc
