Shareaza is without a doubt one of the cleanest available. You'll never get a fully clean P2P- but this has no spam, adware & bundled crap like Kazaa or the others.
Shareaza uses eDonkey and Gnutella 1 & 2 networks and can download and search form Bittorrent as well (www.bittorrent.com is one of the best torrent portals).
It is free & simple to use and comes fully featured without having to fork out money for the Pro version (as there isn't any).
Limewire is pretty good too- but there is a lot of sh!t on it too.
I use shareaza and have never looked back:
