Acronyms on cars' names do not always mean something particular. The "SEi" gives something like 'Sedan Executive, injection", but since Mitsubishi uses names (like Lancer, Colt, Nativa...), the letters indicates only the equipment level. For Mercedes, the letters indicate the model (E, A, B, S classes).

Different car makers use some sort of designation after their model car... Like Toyota and Honda LX, DX etc. They can designate the level of performance such as engine displacement and such or the "trim" level. Eagle Talon TSi was a Turbo, DX was a 2.0 etc... also Deluxe models and Luxury model.
