I really love the look of overlays however I am not sure how they work. I have downloaded various nice overlays from the freebies section for my own personal use and I can never seem to incorperate them onto my layout. What happens is whenever I move the layout on to my background it either turns completely black or white with black pixles around the lettering and is not transparent. I've tried everything I know how to figure it out and am still not getting anywhere. By the way I am using the old Photoshop 5.0.

I don't think Photoshop 5.0 supports transparent .png files, which would explain why they're not showing up correctly. You can try a newer program. It doesn't even have to be the full-blown version of Photoshop. Photoshop Elements, Microsoft Digital Image Pro and Corel Paint Shop Pro are among the programs that support the kind of transparent .png files that are typically used by the major digital scrapbook kit designers to make overlays.

That sounds really odd. I do digital scrapbooking and I've never had that happen. Is the overlay a .png? I would have to look at your overlay to see if that is the problem. Maybe you have a bad overlay. I have a Yahoo Group full of gals willing to answer these questions for you. I would suggest joining and asking there, you'll get a bunch of answers and help.

Or you can e-mail your overlay to me privately to test it for you.
